In addition to selling Fuel Oil and Natural Gas, Columbia Utilities also sells Electricity. We continue to satisfy customers with our personal approach to business. Customers are not just numbers to us, they are people who live in the same community that we do. We want to make sure they are comfortable. As an Energy Service Company (ESCO), we are independent of your local utility.
In order to entice customers to leave the Utility and feel comfortable about receiving Electricity from another supplier, the State implemented certain Tax Savings to customers who go to an ESCO for their Electricity supply. Tens of Thousands of people throughout the state have already switched their Electricity supply to an ESCO.
- To answer your question before it is asked, NO, the Utility will not be mad that you are changing companies. In fact they give you a credit on each month's bill for leaving.
- The reason the Utility will not be mad at you is because you still are a customer of the Utility.
Here is the explanation. There are two charges to your Electricity bill, one is the Delivery charge, and the other is the Supply charge. The Utility issues you both charges. If you sign with Columbia, the Utility will continue to read the meter, and send you your monthly bill with both charges, but Columbia Utilities will receive the Supply portion of your payment.
Be assured that in the event of an emergency, the Utility will still respond in the same manner as they always have! Safety is most important to the Utility as it is to Columbia Utilities.
We sell Electricity to:
