In addition to selling Fuel Oil and Electricity, Columbia Utilities also sells Natural Gas. We continue to satisfy customers with our personal approach to business. Customers are not just numbers to us, they are people who live in the same community that we do. We want to make sure they are comfortable. As an Energy Service Company (ESCO), we are independent of your local utility.
In order to entice customers to leave the Utility and feel comfortable about receiving Natural Gas from another supplier, the State implemented certain Tax Savings to customers who go to an ESCO for their Natural Gas supply. Tens of Thousands of people throughout the state have already switched their gas supply to an ESCO.
- To answer your question before it is asked, NO, the Utility will not be mad that you are changing companies. In fact they give you a credit on each month's bill for leaving.
- The reason the Utility will not be mad at is because you still are a customer of the Utility.
Here is the explanation. There are two charges to your Natural Gas bill, one is the Delivery charge, and the other is the Supply charge. The Utility issues you both charges. If you sign with Columbia, the Utility will continue to read the meter, and send you your monthly bill with both charges, but Columbia Utilities will receive the Supply portion of your payment.
Be assured that in the event of an emergency, the Utility will still respond in the same manner as they always have! Safety is most important to the Utility as it is to Columbia Utilities.
We sell Natural Gas to:
- Residential homes
- Small and large apartment buildings
- Institutions, i.e. Hospitals and Nursing homes
Should you have any other questions regarding our Natural Gas Supply please call the office and one of our Customer Service Representatives would be happy to speak with you.
If you choose Columbia, your supply charge will vary from month-to-month, and your total monthly natural gas costs may be greater or less than what you would incur if you continued to purchase natural gas from the Utility or another ESCO.
